SHELBY the Cat needs a home
Shelby recently spent the long Thanksgiving weekend at home with a volunteer and boy oh boy did she shine! Shelby is a friendly yet quiet, unassuming girl in the shelter but the moment her carrier was opened at home, she popped right out and began to explore her surroundings. She was intrigued with all of the new smells and soft spaces to stretch her legs and lay her head. The cutest thing was that she kept checking in with the volunteer with head bumps and leg rubs before checking out a new corner of her weekend accommodations; she wasn’t at all nervous or shy. Shelby wandered around for the whole weekend, but her most favorite spot was at the end of the bed where she could soak in an almost all day sunbeam. She happily welcomed visitors and loved being pet all over as was obvious from her almost constant purr. Miss Shelby is an at least 10 year old sweetie who does have some special needs. She was recently diagnosed with irritable bowel disease (IBD) and she needs to have intravenous fluids every other day to help her body be the best it can be. She is responding very well to treatment and will thrive in a home that can continue her care through her golden years. Due to Shelby’s unique medical needs, her adoption fee is waived. Additionally, she will be provided with six months’ worth of food, medications and supplements. Shelby may be a little older, a little slower and need more care than your average bear, err uh, cat, but she is worth every moment of your time and will show you every day how much she loves and appreciates you for showing her that she is worth it.
